One must undergo challenges in order to know where he truly belongs. With a promise of adventure and an opportunity to experience knowledge, wisdom and cultural enrichment, the UPES SPE Student Chapter embarked on the beautiful journey of its UPES SPE Fest 2021 digitally this year with the Inaugural Ceremony on February 12th, 2021. The theme of the fest was ‘Transforming Tomorrow’. The Fest encompasses several features of interest, including lectures and talks by esteemed dignitaries from the industry and college faculty. In addition to these, several technical sessions are organized by various industrial professionals from the likes of ONGC, Schlumberger, etc. that test the participants’ technical understanding. The Fest proved to be a huge success, witnessing participation from various national universities as well as international universities with a total of 170+ national and several international delegates.

INDIAN OIL AND GAS CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION
The basic idea behind IOGCE was to equip the students with the drifts and changes in the Oil and Gas Industry through distinguished lectures from people who know the working of the Industry. Immensely experienced delegates shared their invaluable knowledge on the conference topics and enlightened the attendees of the virtual Indian Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition (IOGCE) during the SPE Fest, 2021. The conference was divided into panels: Energy Transition: Together Towards the Net Zero Future and The Next Generation of Oil and Gas: Industrial Revolution 4.0.
The first panel laid out the foundation for discussion on different aspects of Energy Transition.The first part of the conference was moderated by Mr. Vilas Tawde, Ex CEO & MD Essar Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Limited whose expertise in the industry made the panel even more distinguished. The main speakers for this panel were Mr. Mukul Srivastava, Board Advisor at Infinity Oil Limited, Dubai, Mr. Vasu Goyal, Natural Gas Analyst, IHS Markit, and Mr. Pushpender Singh, Strategy & Business Transformation at Protiviti Middle East. There was an engrossing discussion regarding challenges faced by the Oil and Gas Industry in achieving the goal of Energy Transition along with some innovative corporate strategies in translating decarbonization plans into action. The panelists discussed and deliberated ideas and emerging technologies that will accelerate this transformation.
The Digital Evolution has many dimensions, adopting a different paradigm is like changing the glasses and new possibilities might emerge. The UPES SPE Student Chapter understands this imminent transformation and believes that there will be a lot of ramifications regarding a paradigm shift of the Oil and Gas Industry from conventional to a digitally-driven industry and hence, conducted the second panel with the theme of The Next Generation of Oil and Gas: Industrial Revolution 4.0. The panelists for this discussion were Mr. Naresh Kumar, Assistant Vice President, Logging and Petrophysics, Reliance Industries Limited, Mr. Varadharanjan Raman, Principal Value Engineering, Flutura Decisions Sciences and Analytics, Mr. Sourav De, Practice Head- Energy, Tata Consulting Services, and Dr. Satyam Priyadarshi, Halliburton. The major part of the session emphasized the significance of vehicles of digitalization and new technologies. This panel was moderated by the able mind of Mr. Hrushikesh Paradkar, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons with his moderation the discussion was steady in its core values. In a nutshell, the Conference influenced the students to incorporate a more digitalized approach in their life. The session left not only a deep impact on their lives but left them with learnings that would last them a lifetime.
